We are blessed with so many amazing lake vacation destinations! Compiling a top 10 or so list is way too challenging. Instead here are half a dozen trending lake spots to consider. Have you visited all these lakes? If not, get your calendar out and start planning.

Lake Tahoe, California
Lake Tahoe is a spectacular freshwater lake located in Sierra Nevada Mountains and borders California and Nevada. This lake makes its place makes the bucket list of lakes to visit thanks to amazing crystal-clear freshwater.
Lake Tahoe is a popular in summer due to its beaches and watersports activities. This includes kayaking, boating, swimming to name just a few.
Lake Tahoe also a great winter vacation destination for its slopes and those that love skiing.
There is also great hiking and we would recommend an easy hike and that is to Eagle Rock which rewards you with a great viewpoint for the lake. There are of course, much longer hikes for those that are more adventurous.
Lake Erie, Ohio
Lake Erie is situated on the border of Canada and the United States. Lake Erie is the fourth largest lake (measured by total by surface area) of the five Great Lakes in North America. It also boasts position eleven in terms of the largest lakes worldwide.
This is a massive lake that should be seen to be believed. There are even sizable towns and harbours along its massive shoreline.
As a fishery it offers ranks one of the best in the world. Once of the best lakes to catch big Walleye. Definitely a lake worth visiting for you summer vacation.
Popular lake activities include diving for shipwrecks, fishing, kayaking, boating, biking, hiking and exploring the lighthouses which are spread out along this massive and amazing lake.
Crater Lake, Oregon
This lake comes among one of the deepest lakes in America and this is so for all the right reasons. The breathtaking view with the surrounding hills enchants the eyes at first sight. Let us tell you something about the history of this lake which stretches back to six thousand years when a mountain named Mount Mazama came across eruption. This abrupt process resulted in the formation of this natural pool which was later on called Crater Lake.

Lake Superior, Michigan
This Lake is found at the south shores of the Upper Peninsula and ranks amongst the best beaches in Michigan. Michigan has over 10,000 inland lakes! Lake Superior is arguably towards the top of the best lakes in our opinion.
Let us tell you why! This lake has everything one can dream of, as they say, “you name it they have it”. From hiking, waterfall, and kayaking to the exotic beach views and splendid fishing facilities. Lake Superior stands tall as the apt bucket list option.
Lake Coeur D’Alene, Idaho
Lake Coeur d’Alene, is actually a natural dam controlled lake with the majority of its water coming from the Post Falls Dam. Lake Coeur d’Alene is located in North Idaho, surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges. The shoreline includes many parks, beaches and hiking trails.
In terms of fishing, the lake is known of its chinook salmon. The lake is also home to trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass. More than enough to keep you entertained during your vacation.
The lake is popular for water activities, You can swim in the soothing water, go boating or opt for the kayaking. Or simply chill on beaches and enjoy what nature has to offer. You many even spot a bald eagle!
