Let’s talk about lake trends! I am fortunate enough to live on the lake. It is truly an amazing experience every single day. Therefore I thought I should share my observations of the latest lake activity trends. Many of these will not be a surprise to you. However I do hope to provide you with some inspiration for your next lake vacation or trip.
- Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP): Stand-up paddleboarding has gained significant popularity in recent years. It involves standing on a large, stable board and using a paddle to move across the water. It provides a great full-body workout and is suitable for all ages and skill levels.
2. Kayaking: Kayaking continues to be a popular and classic lake activity. It is fun and peaceful way to explore the water, and it can range from leisurely paddling to more adventurous whitewater kayaking or kayak fishing.
Canoeing provides a similar experience to kayaking but with a different paddle and seating arrangement. It is often enjoyed for recreational purposes, fishing, or exploring calm lake waters. Canoeing as an activity, is making a popular comeback.
3. Fishing: Fishing is a timeless activity enjoyed by many on lakes worldwide. Whether it’s freshwater or saltwater fishing, anglers appreciate the tranquility and the thrill of catching fish. It can be done from the shore, a boat, or a kayak/canoe.
4. Lake Cruises: Taking a cruise on a lake is a relaxing way to enjoy the scenery and take in the surrounding nature. Many lakes offer organized cruises, including sightseeing tours, dinner cruises, and even party boats.

10. Eating! How could I talk about lake activities without eating! Restaurants along lake shores are very popular. Yet so too are picnics and take-away foods.
